Residence Frometa

narrative and concept

The concept of the intervention is driven by a clear premise: transforming fragmented spaces into a fluid, connected, and light-filled environment. The residence evolves from a traditional layout into a more open experience, where the kitchen becomes the social core of the home rather than an isolated area. Every design decision responds to improving spatial relationships, enhancing natural light, and creating a warm, contemporary, and highly functional atmosphere while respecting the original structural essence of the house.
“Transforming a space is not about changing it, but about making it live better.”

Project Stages

BEFORE

Original condition of the space before development of the new architectural concept and transformation process.

DESIGN

Development of the architectural concept defining structure, function, and spatial organization of the project.

CONSTRUCTION

Execution of the approved design ensuring structural integrity, coordination, and precise implementation.

CURRENT STATE

Final condition of the space reflecting the completed design, structural resolution, and intended functionality

Structural Challenges

One of the main challenges of the project was opening existing spaces without compromising the structural integrity of the residence. The removal of interior elements required a precise evaluation of load-bearing walls and existing structural conditions, along with the incorporation of structural solutions that allowed for greater openness while maintaining stability. Additionally, window replacement involved adjustments to existing openings and perimeter reinforcements to ensure compliance with applicable codes and structural performance requirements.

Structural Compatibility

The proposed renovation was developed with full consideration of the existing structural system, ensuring that all modifications remained compatible with the original load paths and construction logic of the residence. Interventions were carefully evaluated to prevent overstressing existing elements, while new components were integrated in a way that complements the structural behavior of the building. This approach allowed for increased spatial openness without compromising structural performance.

Structural Continuity and Stability

All design and construction decisions were executed to preserve structural continuity and ensure overall stability across the modified areas. Load redistribution resulting from interior openings was properly addressed through reinforced structural elements, maintaining uninterrupted load transfer to the foundation. The final result ensures that the renovated spaces function cohesively as part of a stable and unified structural system.
